OK everyone. I know the best ways to curb the need for faire during these winter months is a good movie. What movies do you watch to feed the need for faires.
My first entry is
A Knights Tale http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0183790/

Arn the knight Templar, kingdom of Heaven, Ivanhoe (1950's) and Elizabeth
Oh... the sweet rewards of knighthood, lie not in the true nobelest of deeds, but is buried deep within the eyes and heart, of his one true admiring lady.

Kingdom of Heaven and Elizabeth are excellent choices. I would also recommend to go with the latter, the sequel, Elizabeth: The Golden Age http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0414055/, and Elizabeth I http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0465326/ .

I was going to say that one as well but I didn't want to go overboard. The Golden years was to me, the better of the two. And, for that period in Asia, Red Cliff and the Warlords is like Kingdom of heaven in the time of the early dynasties. Red Cliff full version is over 5 hrs long/two dvd's and is a fantastic epic from the Hun Dynasty. I have the full version and it is a killer movie. Warlords is playing now opened April 2nd in limited theaters. Saw it on TV in a special showing. It is with Jet Li too. I am waiting for that on DVD as well.

For those looking for a naval angle I would add Moby Dick (1956) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0049513/ and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0311113/. While both movies take place in the 1800s I'm not familiar with much advancement in naval history spanning the first three quarters of the last millennium.

Those are good for that as well. Good choices.
